Obituary

Malcolm "Bud" Pylant Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Pylant, and his daughters, Janet Pylant, Julie Waggoner, and Jo Lynn Foulch, along with their husbands, Justin Waggoner and Ken Foulch. He was predeceased by his mother, Mayme Pylant, his father, Malcolm Pylant Sr, and his sister, Peggy Vancas.

Bud devoted over 25 years to his career at GMAC Finance, where he built a reputation for hard work and integrity. A master Mason and a major in the U.S. Army, he served with honor during both the Vietnam War and the Cold War, training young soldiers and embodying grace under pressure.

More than anything, Bud was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He had a quiet strength and a deep sensitivity to others, traits passed down to his children. He cherished the time spent teaching his daughters how to cook biscuits and gravy or make rock candy—simple traditions that became cherished memories. His generosity knew no bounds, and he never hesitated to lend a hand when it was needed.

A man of creativity and curiosity, Bud spent his free time fishing on the shores of Lake Conroe, working on player pianos, rebuilding Volkswagens—whether converting them to sporty convertibles or unique models like "The Thing"—and crafting art projects. His artistic spirit shone through in everything he touched.

Bud was a faithful member of The Woodlands Church, living his life with unwavering Christian faith and leading by example. His warmth, wisdom, and dedication to his family and community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held on June 25th, 2025, at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Bud will be remembered always for his kindness, hard work, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. His love endures in the hearts of his family, forever cherished.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Bud's Masonic Lodge.
