Lynita Ann Lowery, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known to all as "Mommo." She passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, holding the hand of her daughter. Two of her grandchildren were also by her side.
She was born on January 22, 1938 to Arthur Dale and Lillie Maurine Boswell in Gorman, Texas.
Lynita was raised on her parent's peanut farm in De Leon, Texas. Growing up, she loved spending time with her parents, her big brother Marvin and other family members. Her love of sports began in high school where she played volleyball and basketball as well as being a cheerleader.
In 1956, Lynita married Miles Martin Davis and became a military wife living in Fairbanks Alaska for a while until they moved back to Houston. They had one daughter, Alana. Miles passed away in 1973.
She found love again marrying Gerald Lowery on December 15, 1979 and gained three more children, Richard, Kenneth and Phyllis.
Lynita was the sweetest, kindest soul and had the biggest heart. She loved deeply and had a fierce faith in God. Family and friends were everything to her. If you were her friend, you were a friend for life.
She loved being a farmer's wife and going to the field with Gerald. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, cooking and going to Pilates classes. Lynita also enjoyed trips with her lifelong girlfriends. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made each one feel so special.
Her greatest joy was her love for Poppa. They were soulmates. "Two peas in a pod." Her eyes twinkled and her face would light up whenever Poppa would sing, "I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck." Always holding hands whether they were out and about or sitting together on the couch watching girls' high school, college and professional sports.
Lynita is survived by her children, Alana Curry, Richard (Megan) Lowery, Kenneth (Kelli) Lowery, and Phyllis Rogers; her grandchildren, Evan (Courtney) Curry, Audrey Curry, Justin Rogers, Kevin (Keeli) Rogers, Timothy (Sarah) Lowery, Andrew (Megan) Lowery, and Tyler Lowery; her great-grandchildren, Cassie and Lainey Curry, Cora, KJ and Molly Rogers, Sophia Lowery, and one more great-granddaughter who is due to arrive in January; brother Marvin (Mary Jo) Boswell, special friends Jack and Beverly Smith, as well as many other family members and friends.
Lynita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 1/2 years, Gerald, both her parents, as well as her son-in-law Stanton Rogers, nephews Michael Lowery and David Sowers and great niece, Melissa Ward Garza.
Pallbearers are Evan Curry, Justin Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Timothy Lowery, Andrew Lowery and Tyler Lowery.
