Luz Hernandez Moncada, lovingly known as Lucy, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2026, in Spring, Texas.

Born on May 26, 1935, in El Paso, Texas, Lucy was a force of grace and strength, deeply devoted to her family and friends. She met her beloved Ricardo at their place of work, Zork Hardware Company, and they married on November 17, 1957. While later working together at El Paso Natural Gas Company, the two decided to start their own business ­­ — Richard's Printing. "The shop" was not only a community touchpoint for over 40 years on Alameda Avenue, but also their mission field. Lucy and Ricardo ministered to their customers and led several to receive the Lord over the years. Christ was Lucy's anchor, and she shared His love with anyone whose path she crossed.

A cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Lucy is survived by her loving husband, Ricardo Moncada; her children, Richard Moncada (Margarita), Cynthia Fritz (Michael), Catherine Borm (Eric) and Deborah Williams (Dewayne); and grandchildren, Alan, Anissa, Isaac, Kate, Rebekah, Annabelle, Elizabeth, Sarah, Deborah and Abigail; as well as her sister Delia Vega, brother Joe Hernandez and several nieces and nephews.

Lucy is preceded in death by her daughter Victoria, her parents Moises and Victoria Hernandez, and her brothers, Moises and Richard Hernandez.

While she will be deeply missed, we rejoice knowing we will be together again in His everlasting glory.

A mass will be held at Loretto Chapel, 1300 Hardway St., El Paso, Texas on May 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
