Un 20 de julio de 1929 nació en Cuba Luis Ramón Cisneros Díaz. En la ciudad de Camagüey conoció a Rosa Marina Piloto, con quien contrajo matrimonio en 1952. Se mudaron a Guantánamo, donde formaron su familia y nacieron Tony, Luis, Mary y Pachi.

Trabajó en la Base Naval de los Estados Unidos hasta que la dictadura de Fidel Castro lo detuvo y le arrebató todo, incluido su rosario. Con la valentía que lo definía, tejió uno nuevo con hilos de su propia ropa. Ese gesto lo dice todo sobre quién era: un hombre de fe profunda, que encontraba la manera de seguir adelante sin importar lo que la vida le pusiera enfrente. Siempre soñó con ver a Cuba libre y democrática, y con regresar algún día a la casa que había creado en Guantánamo con el fruto de su trabajo, sueño que nunca lo abandonó.

Salió con su familia hacia Venezuela y posteriormente se estableció en Houston, donde fundó Basket Enterprise, una empresa familiar dedicada a la venta de canastas para florerías. Trabajador, honesto, a todo el mundo le contaba historias de Cuba. Le apasionaba la música y el baile. Amaba la buena comida, especialmente la que Pastorita preparaba con tanto cariño. Su mayor alegría era tener a la familia reunida: las visitas de William en Houston, y cuando Alex lo llevaba al estadio a ver los juegos de béisbol, con el pulóver del equipo puesto, era el abuelo más feliz del mundo.

Fue el mejor esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo que pudimos tener. A Luis Ramón le sobreviven sus hijos Tony, Luis, Mary y Pachi; sus nietos Alexander, Marita, William y Sarita; y sus bisnietos. Descansa en paz, reunido con su amada Rosa Marina, mientras guardamos su memoria con amor y todo el cariño que nos dejó.

On July 20, 1929, Luis Ramón Cisneros Díaz was born in Cuba. In Camagüey he met Rosa Marina Piloto, with whom he married in 1952. They moved to Guantánamo, where they built their family and Tony, Luis, Mary and Pachi were born.

He worked at the United States Naval Base until Fidel Castro's dictatorship detained him and stripped him of everything, including his rosary. With the courage that defined him, he wove a new one from threads of his own clothing. That gesture says everything about who he was: a man of deep faith, who always found a way to move forward no matter what life put before him. He always dreamed of seeing a free and democratic Cuba, and of returning to the home he had built in Guantánamo with the fruits of his labor, a dream that never left him.

He left with his family to Venezuela and later settled in Houston, where he founded Basket Enterprise, a family business dedicated to selling baskets to florists. Hardworking and honest, he never missed a chance to tell his customers stories about Cuba. He had a passion for music and dancing. He loved good food, especially what Pastorita prepared with such loving care. His greatest joy was having the family together: William's visits to Houston, and when Alex took him to the stadium to watch baseball games, with his team jersey on, he was the happiest grandfather in the world.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather we could have ever had. Luis Ramón is survived by his children Tony, Luis, Mary and Pachi; his grandchildren Alexander, Marita, William and Sarita; and his great-grandchildren. He rests in peace, reunited with his beloved Rosa Marina, while we carry his memory with love and the warmth he left behind.
