Ludgero Norberto Silveira, known to most as Steve, was born on September 20, 1954. He was born on the island of Terceira in the Azores.

When he was 12, he and his family left their home in the Azores and moved to Brazil.

In 1974, he moved to Providence, Rhode Island. Steve did not enjoy the cold New England weather and never fully adjusted to the change.

A few years later, he went to truck driving school and began driving across America.  He drove through all of the 48 continental states. Steve always told stories of driving through the open highways of America, and he especially loved to talk about driving through Arizona and New Mexico. He returned to Rhode Island and began to work as a butcher at Johnston Beef. His sister, Odilia, introduced him to one of her friends named Debbie.

Steve couldn't stop thinking about Debbie, so he called her to ask her to the New Year's Party. Debbie and Steve bonded that evening and began their relationship.

When his children were young, Debbie worked nights.  Steve enjoyed taking care of things at home-cooking dinners, reading bedtime stories, and being with his children. Steve even treated his children's friends as his own. One thing that Steve believed in was being a good neighbor.

He lived in the same house for over 28 years and built an amazing community with his neighbors. He always helped his neighbors with anything they needed.

The neighbors became his support during the difficult time after his wife Debbie passed away in 2014. Steve was also known for his affection for cats.

He took in any cat that needed a home and truly loved all of them.

Steve will be remembered for being a great storyteller, loving his family, and enjoying adventure. He will be greatly missed.
