Lucio Paulo, age 90, passed away peacefully with his wife and children at his bedside on December 17, 2020 at his home in Tomball, TX.

Lucio was born in the small town of Carvalheiro in Alcanena, Portugal on August 9, 1930 to Caetano Paulo and Conceicão Paulo.  He married Maria Emilia Paulo on December 17, 1950, exactly 70 years to the day of his passing.

Lucio was a respected farmer and proprietor in Carvalheiro, before he and his young family moved to the United States in 1967.  He lived and worked in Hartford, CT and was active in the local Portuguese community.  During that time, he and other community members helped establish the current Portuguese Club of Hartford, Inc.

Lucio moved to Houston, TX in 1978 and founded P&P Concrete, Inc. in 1985.  He and his son ran the business side-by-side for over 10 years, until Lucio's retirement in 1993. While in retirement, Lucio moved back to Portugal and Hartford for brief periods, but he considered himself a proud Texan and spent his remaining years in Tomball, TX.

Lucio loved music and played the accordion professionally in Portugal during his youth.  He continued to play throughout his life and loved entertaining his family and friends,.

Lucio was also a life-long fan of the soccer club team Sporting Lisbon and he was a dedicated Houston Astros fan for over 40 years.  Some of his most loved and cherished memories were of the many Astros games he attended with his son and grandson.

Lucio is survived by his loving daughter Isaura Agostinho and her life partner James Giantonio of Tolland, CT, and his son, former business partner and best friend Roger Paulo and his wife Tracy Douglas Paulo of Tomball, TX.  He leaves his four beloved grandchildren, Michele Agostinho Allison, Richard Agostinho, Roger and Brittany Paulo, and his great-grandchildren Nathaniel and Emilia Allison.  Lucio also leaves his nephews Arlindo, Angelo and Nelson Alves, as well as many cousins and long-time friends.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Maria da Conceicão Paulo and Trindade Paulo, his sister-in-law Isaura Alves, his nephews Antonio Alves and Raul Paulo, and his niece Judite Alves.

Lucio was successful in life and in business, and he taught his children and grandchildren to value hard work and the opportunity it brings.  His perseverance and unwillingness to settle for anything less than his goals, made him a strong, inspiring and beloved patriarch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX. Burial will be at Klein Memorial Park at 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX immediately following the Mass.
