Lucian "Kelly" Mason

December 26, 1960 – November 19, 2024

Kelly Mason of Tomball, Texas passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, after a short, valiant battle with cancer. His family battled this war step by step with him, as he fought back against this disease, until the very end of his young life.

Kelly was born on December 26, 1960, to Lucian "Boo" and Henri Sue Mason in Houston, Texas.

Kelly is survived by his wife of 40 years, Suzanne; three sons, Brandon (Brittany) Mason, Cameron (Kayla) Mason and Dylan (Holly) Mason. Nine grandchildren, Wyatt, Scarlett, Camri, Brynn, Jackson, Tinley, Adaline, Brodie, and Colt. Sisters, Kristi (Leland) Grubb, Angel (Galen) Vera, Yvette (Michael) Moore and Christy Mason. Brothers, Shawn (Amy) Mason and Shannon (JoAnna) Mason. Stepmother Diane Mason. Brother-in-law, Michael Kreiner, niece Katie Kreiner and sister-in-law, Mary Kay Kreiner-Norton, niece Kaitlin Norton and nephews Tyler and John Norton. Cousin, Jana (Dave) Epplin and sons Tom and Joe. Along with many, many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents Boo and Sue, paternal grandparents, Ocie and Martha Mason and maternal grandparents, Henry and Opal Spencer. Father-in-law Daniel Kreiner and mother-in-law Mary Claire Kreiner. Brother-in-law, Danny Kreiner, nieces Kara Kreiner and Angie Grubb, nephew Randall Grubb and special Aunt and Uncle, Betty Lou and Don Ward.

Kelly and Suzanne married on February 17, 1984, followed by the birth of their three sons. Kelly was a loyal member of the Catholic faith wherever he lived, always followed the bible's teachings to raise his children and keep his wife and sons protected.

Kelly wore many hats and would answer to many nicknames over the years, King Kelly, Kel, Mason, Mase, Dad, Father, Pops, Poppy, Babe, Coach, Mr. National, & Superman. He happily answered the call to anyone needing help, comfort or just an ear to listen to. He was a friend to all, life of the party, funniest guy in the room and lived his life in his easygoing manner which made people want to be around him. If he was upset with anyone, he had a propensity to call them "Chief," then they knew immediately they were in trouble!

His career started in sales at an early age with positions at Progressive Equipment, John Eagle Honda, Specialty Products, Inc., among others. 27 years ago, he was blessed to be recruited and hired by Specified Technologies, Inc. as they were on the cusp of a large growth trend, which he became an integral part of. He wore many hats with STI and had been in the distinct role of Director of Healthcare Partnerships, nationally, for the last 15 years. He was honored to hire and mentor a host of employees over the years. He led with integrity, honesty, and enthusiasm to garner STI a strong foothold in the healthcare arena and he was a proud participant in helping everyone get there.

Kelly Mason held his Michigan Real Estate license in the mid 90's working under the direction of Paul Muxlow, Red Carpet Keim in Brown City, Michigan. Upon his death, he also held his Texas Real Estate license working with Better Homes & Gardens Gary Greene and helping his wife when he was able.

He had a love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter, angler, athlete, baseball player and coach. He had the opportunity to coach the Brown City Junior Varsity baseball team as well as being the Brown City Little League President, dedicated 4-H father for the BC Cattle Rustlers group, helping his sons groom their animals to compete at the county fair level. If not coaching, you could always find Kelly Mason on the bleachers watching his three sons play baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. He has most recently been found on the bleachers watching the second generation of Mason athletes take the diamond, court or cheerleaders cheering for their teams!

Kelly was a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Corral Club and eventually joined the Safety Committee, volunteering his time to help the youth of Texas show their 4-H animals in the largest arena in the southwest. He was a devoted "Houston Astros Buddy" when he was a young boy and had followed them each year since, along with being an enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Tigers

Kelly had a passion for all classic cars and owned many during his life. He loved a good microphone and was an accomplished singer. He was able to sing with local bands in Michigan, Texas, and New Jersey. He got the surprise of his life when he and his wife were visiting "The Grand Old Opry" where he was asked to sing on the "ring" where many famous singers have sung, and he successfully belted out "Neon Moon" acapella!

A life lived powerfully, peacefully, and proudly. When he was a young man, he prayed to see his son's graduate, get married and have children.

King Kelly experienced all three with all three!

HE IS OUR SUPERMAN. When you think of Kelly Mason, think about a great man who loved his family unconditionally and will watch over them to the end of time, especially if they called him "Poppy."

Kelly Mason felt this was an important legacy message at the end of his life:
