Lieutenant Colonel Jack B. Stephenson was born in Chattanooga, Oklahoma on January 19, 1933, and passed away in Tomball, Texas on March 17, 2022.
After graduating from high school, Jack attended East Texas State college (now Texas A&M University-Commerce) where he played basketball with Coach Shelby Metcalf. From there, he joined the United States Air Force for a 22 year career, during which he was a pilot in the Vietnam War, worked at NASA and met the first 7 astronauts, and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the military, Jack worked in engineering for Lockheed Martin and traveled the world during his 20 years with the company, including time spent living in both Iran and Greece. He and Frances spent 16 years living in Marietta, Georgia before returning to Houston in 1997 so that they could be near their children and grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Stephenson, and his parents, Joe and Anne Stephenson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances M. Stephenson; his daughter, Robin Edwards and husband Simon; grandchildren, Rachel Edwards and Christopher Edwards; sister, Janice Jester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
