Lowell Winton Hastings, 88, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by devotion to his family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for life's adventures.

Lowell was born on February 19, 1938, in Thayer, Kansas, to Leo Winton and Laura Nell (Peterson) Hastings. He grew up on a small family farm, where he learned the value of responsibility and perseverance at an early age. At just 14 years old, after the passing of his father, Lowell showed remarkable strength and determination by driving his mother and younger brother to California in search of work and opportunity.

He was known throughout his life as a man who was dependable, trustworthy, and gifted in many crafts. Through hard work and quiet dedication, he built an impactful career in technical machinery sales, finishing with American Pfauter, where he took pride in helping others find the right solutions. He connected his deep understanding of complex machinery with the real needs of the customers he served. His work took him around the world, including many trips to Ludwigsburg, Germany, home of the company's headquarters, but no matter where he went, Lowell carried with him the same integrity, humility, patience, and strength of character that defined his life.

At the age of 19, Lowell met the love of his life, Christina English. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on December 21, 1957, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted 54 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, raising four children: Richard, Greg, and twins Michelle and Eric.

Lowell and Christina embraced life fully, sharing many passions and hobbies including couple's golf, bowling, square dancing, wine tasting, water skiing, snow skiing, and cooking. Their shared love of travel took them across the world, visiting Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Japan, China, Switzerland, France, Italy, South America, Alaska, and Canada. One of their most cherished journeys was their final trip together to the Holy Land in Jerusalem, where they renewed their wedding vows.

Lowell was the proud grandfather of Bryce, Nicole, Courtney, Jared, and Matthew, and great-grandfather to Lawrence, Simon, and Aurora. He was lovingly known as "Papa" and "Great Papa," titles he carried with great joy and pride.

After the passing of Christina, Lowell continued to embrace life with independence and enthusiasm. He bought a Casita travel trailer and spent his time camping and fishing in Colorado and birdwatching in Rockport, Texas. He found joy in the outdoors and in connecting with others, always enjoying good conversation and companionship.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Christina; and his siblings, Royalyn Whitney, Gary Hastings, and Clifford Hastings. He is survived by his children Richard, Greg, Michelle and Eric, his brother-in-law, Dale English (Marie), sister-in-law, Shirley English, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

Lowell passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and love that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home Tomball. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
