Bonnie Louise (Thomas) McGehee of Spring, Texas; beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend; passed away September 2, 2021.  Louise was born April 20, 1929, in Bay City, Texas to Robert Crittendon Thomas and Lula Myrtle Mangum.  She graduated from Corpus Christi High School and attended business school.  Louise was married to her high school sweetheart, Wesley Burwell McGehee, for 56 loving years.  Above all else, Louise was a loving devoted mother and grandmother to her four children and all of her grandchildren, and a surrogate to countless others who appreciated her love and care.

After retiring from Gulf Publishing Company, she started a successful catering business, The Happy Cookers, and made beautifully decorated cakes for all occasions, and fantastic food for events of all kinds.  She was a devoted and faithful Christian and attended Woodland Oaks Church of Christ in The Woodlands, TX.

Louise spread joy, comfort, and love to everyone.  She was adventurous and playful and so much fun to be with.  Almost everyone that knew her has at least one, if not many, an adventure story that begins with, "Well, I was with Louise (Mama, Mema, Momoo, Aunt Louise) …," and it ends with tremendous laughter!  She had a playful, joyful presence that raised the spirits of everyone around her.  She loved playing jokes on grandkids and enjoyed teasing anyone from whom she might get a reaction.  Her kind hazel-green eyes lit up and sparkled every time someone that she loved entered the room.  She was truly a bright light and joy to be with no matter the circumstance.  She was resilient, strong, and brave and faced incredibly difficult times with amazing calm and clarity.

She loved dominos, card games, puzzles, saltwater fishing, art, and painting (in oil, acrylic, and porcelaine).  She loved to travel and experience as much of the world as she could.  She savored historic sites, museums, landscapes, flowers and trees, and local cuisine specific to each region she visited.  She was an extraordinary cook and was adventurous and creative with her own cooking.  Louise was an avid football and baseball fan, and loved her Astros, Dallas Cowboys, Oilers, Texans, and Longhorns football and baseball (and was secretly an Aggie fan, too!).

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Crittendon Thomas, mother Myrtle Mangum Thomas, husband Wesley B. McGehee, son Wesley B. McGehee, Jr., son Robert E. McGehee, and granddaughter Tayler Diane Volk.  She is survived by daughters Suzanne McGehee (Cindy), Spring, TX; Sheri Volk (Jeff), Cypress, TX; grandchildren Bonnie McGehee (Jacob), Spring, TX; Ryan McGehee (Liz), Austin, TX; Nathan McGehee, Round Rock, TX; Tyler Volk, Cypress, TX; Spencer Volk, Cypress, TX; and great-grandson Riley Green, Spring, TX.  She is also survived by son-in-law Dave Faber, Terra Alta, WV; daughter-in-law Esther McGehee, Cedar Park, TX; step-grandson Murphy Johns, Cedar Park, TX; step-granddaughter Melissa Billman (Casey), Leander, TX; step-great-granddaughter Vivian Billman; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her beloved dog, Peanut.
