Louis Jacob Reeg, Jr, 91, affectionately known to his friends as "Louie" passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Louie was born on October 16, 1927, in Galveston, Texas to Louis J. Reeg and Frances Muecke Reeg. He attended Galveston public schools and proudly served his country in WWII as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BBA degree in 1949, and was married to Paula Pierce of Pelahatchie, Mississippi on January 1, 1950, in Jennings, Louisiana.

Louie was preceded in death by the love of his life, Paula; he is survived by their three children and spouses: Paula Reeg McGuffin and husband, Donnie, of Tomball, Texas; Louis J. Reeg, III and wife, Jan Colombi, of Newton, Massachusetts; and Pamela Reeg Doyle and husband, John, of San Antonio, Texas.  Louie is also survived by five grandchildren: Marty McGuffin (wife Tara), Eric McGuffin (wife Alicia), Kelly McGuffin Ready (husband Roger), Amy Doyle, and Madeleine Reeg. Louie is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Taylor, Ryan, Teagan, Autumn, Cadence, Pierce, Paxton, and Ryker.

Louie was employed by Dresser Industries in Dallas, Texas for 28 years, retiring in 1984 as Vice President Employee and Labor Relations. Upon his retirement, Louie and Paula moved to their ranch in Athens, Texas, where he was very active in the cattle industry and was president of the Rotary Club. In 1991, Louie and Paula relocated to Galveston, where their married life had begun. He participated in many civic activities such as board member of Galveston Historical Foundation, president of East End Historic District, president of the Historic Downtown/Strand Partnership, board member and president of Edgewater Meals on Wheels, volunteer at the Grand Opera House, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, at Lakewood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas (corner of Jones Rd & Louetta Rd) at 2 P.M. Friends will be received after the service at a reception in Founders Court at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials in Louie's memory be made to Galveston Island Meals on Wheels (2803 53rd Street  Galveston, TX  77551)  or St. Vincent's House (2817 Post Office Street  Galveston, TX  77550).
