Louis Stephen Makatura, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the age of 50.

Louis is survived by his parents Louis Makatura Sr. and Sue Makatura, His siblings, Richard Makatura, Rachel Makatura, Hillery Makatura, and JoAnne Horton, his wife Christina Makatura, his children Kyle Makatura, Kayla Brown, Kerri Makatura, Brody Makatura, and Emma Makatura, and grandchildren Avery and Allison Brown.

Louis was born on August 25th, 1971 in Oak Forest, Illinois to Louis and Sue Makatura. The Makatura family moved to Luling, Texas in 1979. Louis graduated from Central Heights High School in 1990. He continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was a proud Lumberjack alumni and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Graduating with a B.A. in Communications in 1994.

Louis loved golfing, keeping busy building/creating projects, Star Wars, sports, hosting over the top parties, creating the perfect playlist, carpooling the kids around, finding the perfect meal, and making inappropriate jokes. Most importantly he enjoyed being around his loved ones. He was always first to volunteer to help, and make sure you were taken care of. He was a loving husband, a caring father, a proud grandfather, an understanding brother, and a thoughtful friend.

In 2020 the Makatura's made a family decision to move cross-country to Moseley, Virginia. This was the current and primary residence for Louis the past 2 years. While Texas was special to Louis, Virginia quickly became his favorite place to be. He was very proud to call Virginia his home and wanted to share his passion with anyone who would listen.  In true Louis fashion, he made lots of friends and found many ways to leave his mark on the community.

If you knew Louis, you know his family and friends were everything to him. When he was around, he knew how to bring people together and make the moment memorable. Louis was the glue for his friend groups, family get togethers, text threads, and group pictures; bringing people together and creating lasting bonds. Louis was very loved and knew how to make anyone smile. He handled himself with pride and compassion in everything he did.
