Loretta Ruth Divin, 88, of Cypress, Texas , beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Born in Houston, Texas, to Oren D. McAdoo and Azell Shuffield McAdoo, Loretta was raised in the Baptist church, where she developed a strong faith that guided her throughout her life. Her life was marked by resilience, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family.

Loretta married Ernest E. Divin on December 13, 1953, and together they raised four children: Donna, Vivian, David, and Karen. After the passing of her husband in 1976, Loretta embarked on a new chapter, building a remarkable career in the electronics industry. Starting at the bottom, her determination and work ethic led her to become Senior Buyer for Lane Telecommunications—a testament to her never-give-up spirit.

Her greatest joy was her family. Known affectionately as G-ma, Maw Maw, and Grandma, she was a constant and loving presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Loretta loved gardening, nurturing her yard, learning about plants, and teaching her grandchildren the joys of tending to nature. She also cherished vacations and weekend outings with her children and grandchildren, exploring destinations such as South Padre, Florida, Dolphin Island, Louisiana, Mississippi, San Antonio, Las Vegas, and enjoying a memorable cruise with her sister, Jeanette.

The family bay home in Brazoria, Texas, was a favorite weekend getaway. There, Loretta, and her family enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, camping at the beach, and spending time with family and friends, creating laughter-filled memories. On nights with a full moon, if you were lucky, you might spot Loretta and Ernest floundering at the shoreline, making memories that would last a lifetime.

Loretta is survived by her daughters, Vivian Divin and Karen Sommer (Ricky); her cherished grandchildren, Misty Bynon, Nikki Bynon Lopez (Sem), Kristi Lowery (Brandon), Kelli Pickel, Kalynn Hughes, and Kacie Clack (Kelly); her treasured great-grandchildren, Christopher Olivo, Ava, Alivia, and Amelia Lopez, Carson, Kenley, and Cayden Lowery, Samuel Zelensky, Jaiden and Sommer Hughes, Rylan and Everly Clack; her sister, Jeanette Brister (Don); sister-in-law, Arlene Divin; brothers-in-law, Albert Divin and Herbert Divin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Divin; children Donna S. Divin and David D. Divin; her mother, Azell Barbo, and bonus father, George Barbo; sister, Barbara Divin; in-laws Eddie and Lizzie Divin; sisters-in-laws Rosalee Norville, Delores Divin, Evie Divin, Anna-Lee Divin Willingham; and brothers-in-law Sonny, Eddie Joe, Earl Divin, and Johnny Norville.

Loretta's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, love, adventure, and the joy of family. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
