Obituary

Lora Sue (Wakefield) Murdock, 77, of Magnolia, Texas was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 21, 2018.  She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.  Lora was born on November 2, 1940 in Houston, Texas; the only child of John Brock Wakefield Jr. and Lula Orbell Laird.

Lora grew up in Houston and graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1959.  On May 15, 1964, she married a rookie police officer, John P. Murdock Jr., and they were married for 54 years until his passing in May of this year.

Although she worked several full and part-time jobs over the years, her primary calling was to be a Godly wife and mother. Throughout her life she was active in the church: assisting in the women's ministry, teaching children's Sunday School, VBS and AWANA. Lora built her life around her husband John and their two sons.  Her faithfulness in obeying God's word led to her husband and sons accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Throughout the years, they all enjoyed the outdoors: traveling, camping, and fishing.  Upon her husband's retirement in 1988, she and John spent portions of the next 19 years traveling the United States and Canada in a motorhome where they enjoyed 4-wheeling and exploring off-road trails.

She is survived by: son John Paul, III and his wife Kathy; son Steven Ray and his wife Andrea; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Tomball Bible Church, 400 N. Walnut, Tomball, TX 77375. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m.
