Lois Marie Cancienne Westbrook, 84, of Spring, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Lois was born on December 18, 1938 in Port Allen, Louisiana, to Andrew Albert Cancienne and Genevieve Marie Bourg Cancienne. Those left to cherish Lois' memory are her children, Michael Westbrook (Melba), Mark Westbrook (Laura), Teresa Bratcher (Tom), Mary Rump (Bill) and Laura Evans (Gerald); brother-in-law, Harold Westbrook; sisters-in law, Doris Adamcik and Glenda Moore; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Robbie; her daughter-in-law, Copia Westbrook; grandson, Thomas Bratcher; sister, Anne Baucum; brothers-in law, Hesser Westbrook, Billy Westbrook, Merrill Adamcik, Steve Moore and Don Baucum; sisters-in-law, Neta Royder, Joyce Westbrook, Jean Westbrook and Nita Westbrook; parents-in-law, Riley Valentine Westbrook and Winnie Weaver; nephews, Stephen Westbrook, Gene Westbrook and Marvin Westbrook; and nieces, Donna Crochet, Brenda Ewing and Melinda Schipske.

Lois grew up in Louisiana on Poplar Grove Plantation, where her father was the Business Manager. She attended Port Allen schools, where she played saxophone in the band and was a member of the girls basketball team in high school. After high school, Lois attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) and received a secretarial degree. After graduation, Lois returned to Port Allen, where she worked at the Port office. It was there that Lois met the love of her life, Robbie Westbrook, a Texas boy that had been discharged from the Navy and was living with family in Port Allen. Robbie and Lois were married on December 20, 1958 and soon welcomed their five children into their loving household. They raised their family in Port Allen, LA; Beaumont, Hereford and Spring, TX before moving to Blessing, TX as they neared their retirement years. As the number of grandchildren grew, so did their desire to be closer to their growing family and they returned to Spring to the family home on Bamwood.

In the early years, Lois was a stay-at-home mom devoted to her husband and children. After moving to Houston in the late 60's, she held office jobs at Dresser Industries, St. Regis Paper Company and finally in the Business Office at North Harris County College, which is known today as Lone Star. After moving to Blessing, she managed a family-owned Texaco gas station before taking a job as warehouse manager at Oxy Chem in Markham. She retired from Oxy around the same time that Robbie retired from South Texas Nuclear Project in Bay City. After returning to Spring, she briefly worked part-time at the Ponderosa YMCA, where she enjoyed getting to know the early morning workout crowd.

Lois enjoyed dancing (much to Robbie's dismay), playing Canasta, traveling with senior groups and attending social events at church and within the Cadence Creek community. Over the years, she was an avid participant in Robbie's hobbies, like cooking, beekeeping and building a pecan orchard. These activities led to association memberships that took Lois and Robbie on travels that were much enjoyed. Lois was a devout Catholic and a devoted member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and St. Edward Catholic Church. Robbie and Lois were also founding members of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in North Houston. Lois enjoyed her participation in St. Edward's Senior Saints and the St. Edward Knights of Columbus events.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church at 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd, Spring, TX 77389 on Saturday, September 2, 2023 with a visitation and rosary at 10:00 a.m.,

followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at noon at Klein Memorial Park at 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375.
