Lloyd Ollis "Sonny" Dollar passed away on April 19th, 2021, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan, Texas from a sudden illness.

Sonny was born on May 8, 1944 in Monroe, Louisiana, the son of Ralph Herman and Vida Eula Dollar. After graduating from Stephan F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas, he attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas where he was a member on the rodeo team.

Sonny proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In 1968, Sonny graduated from the Houston Police Academy. Later on, he served in the Organized Crime unit of the Intelligence Division and ended his Houston Police career as a high-performance driving instructor at the Houston Police Academy in 1981. In 1983, Sonny joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office as a Criminal Investigator and retired in 2007.

Sonny had a beautiful voice and spent many nights singing country-western songs at Bells Camp Marina for fun. It was at Bells Camp Marina where he captured the heart of a small-town girl who would become the love of his life and wife, Jeanette McCarty. Sonny enjoyed hunting with his sons and fishing with his wife. He also had a love for watching westerns, war documentaries, and bull riding. Most important in his life was his family. He loved getting the family together for celebrations where he would spend all day making his famous BBQ brisket and enjoy relaxing in the evening around family and friends sharing stories and endless laughs! Sonny's stories will continue to be shared for generations.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Herman Dollar, Sr. and Vida Eula Dollar; brothers, John L. Dollar, Ralph H. Dollar, Jr., and Fred A. Dollar; sisters, Barbara Jane Gunter, Betty Jean Dollar, and Ada Elizabeth Leazer.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Dollar; sons and daughter-in-law, Derrick, Mark, and Jan Dollar; grandchildren, Tyler, Jed, and Baby Dollar on the way; brother-in-law, Donnie McCarty and wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Paul McCarty; brother-in-law, James McCarty; numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Derrick Dollar, Mark Dollar, Donnie McCarty, Paul McCarty, James McCarty, Jody McCarty, Jared McCarty, Mark Johnson, Jason Hurley and Jared Hurley.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 25th at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas. Services for Sonny will be held at Klein Funeral Home with Pastor Allen McClure on Monday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the City of Hempstead Cemetery.
