LJ Woods, age 80, of Houston, Texas, succumbed mounting health issues at Houston Methodist Hospital Willowbrook on Sunday, May 2, 2020.

Born September 20, 1939 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Woodrow and Lois Woods, at age 18 LJ married Mary Ann Hill and supported his young family working as a hotshot driver for a trucking company.  After legally separating from his former wife in the early 1960's, he opened his own roofing business and remarried the late Mary (Beaty) Walker in 1962.  He enjoyed his work and built a reputable business that is still going strong after more than 60 years.  LJ met Dorothy (Stuck) Pena in 1987 and they lived happily together until his passing 33 years later.

LJ is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Cindy Way and husband Dale, Vicki Williams, Demoine Whitworth and husband Randy, Amanda Woods, sons, Johnny Woods and wife Kay, LJ Woods Jr and wife Hope, sisters Fairlene Collins and Linda Meshell, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lois Woods, brothers Woodrow Woods Jr. and Ted Woods, brother-in-law's Gene Collins and Wayne Meshell, daughter Sheila Register and granddaughter Lacey Boudreaux.  A loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone, LJ valued relationships with the people in his life and family above all else.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas on Saturday, May 9, 2020.  Amidst these unprecedented times, enforced social distancing requires guests be limited to no more than 50 and for this reason it is requested anyone wishing to attend contact the family in advance for details.
