Obituary

Lisa Renee (Smith) Owens, age 62, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, TX. She was born November 15, 1957 in Lubbock, TX to Elwin "Smitty" Monroe Marburger Smith and Doris Louise (Seals) Smith.

She was a 1976 graduate of Coronado High School and studied music at Texas Tech University. She worked in aircraft maintenance for E-Systems in Greenville, TX, which provided her the opportunity to work on Air Force One. She later relocated to Houston with her mother to work for Continental Airlines, where she met Charles Owens. She and Charles later married on June 14, 1986 in Houston, TX. After becoming a mother, she stayed at home with Misti before pursuing a career in education with Child's World Daycare and Hamilton Middle School in Cy-Fair ISD.

Lisa truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting with friends and family, quilting, and spending time with her five grandchildren. Lisa had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents and parents. She is survived by her husband, Charles; her brother, George Thomas "Tommy" Smith and his wife Sylvia; a daughter, Misti (Owens) Tarwater and her husband Paul; two stepdaughters, Drieva (Owens) Coles with her husband John, and Paige Owens; a grandson, Austin Coles; four granddaughters, Kayla Prescott, Kelsey Prescott, Avery Tarwater and Evelyn "Evie" Tarwater; as well as uncles, aunts, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Lisa touched are invited to the KLEIN FUNERAL HOME, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77379 , at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your preferred breast cancer research foundation.
