Linda Dahmer Thurman , 70, died peacefully on October 20, 2021 in Tomball, Texas after a brief illness. She was born February 8, 1951 to Conrad David Dahmer, Jr. and Ethel Mitchell Dahmer in Houston, Texas and later moved with her family to and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. There she attended Woodlawn High School where she was homecoming queen in 1968 and graduated in 1969. In 1971, she completed a 2-year certificate in Office Administration at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana. Also, on June 4, 1971, she married James K. (Ken) Thurman, Jr. with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this year before her passing. She was a resident of Houston and its surrounding area and also a member of Southwest Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Bellaire, Texas for the past 24 years. Linda was a Christian and made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior through the ministry of Northwest Memorial Baptist Church (Houston) at the age of 28. She was much loved as daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her life was centered on her family to whom she was always loving and totally devoted. She is survived by her husband Ken Thurman (Tomball, TX); daughters Laura Wimberly and husband Charlton (Spring, TX) and Lindsay Newcomer and husband Kyle (Cypress, TX); grandchildren Steven Wimberly, James Wimberly, Cate Wimberly, Tommy Newcomer, Jacob Newcomer, Lila Newcomer and Anna Newcomer; and sisters Cathy Harper and husband Jack (Lawrenceville, GA) and Mary Ann Lamecker (Kenai, AK). She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 9 th of November, 2021 at Southwest Presbyterian Church, 6033 South Rice Avenue, Bellaire, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. David L. Wakeland, Senior Pastor of Southwest Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Kyle Newcomer, Co-Pastor of Christ Our Savior Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, TX. Pallbearers will be Charlton Wimberly, Kyle Newcomer, Jonathan Wakeland, Joseph Wakeland, James Wakeland, Jess Wakeland, Chuck Holland, and Kirk Coppes.
