Linda Roberson's Journey
Born on April 7, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas, Linda transitioned to eternity with the Lord and Savior on January 10, 2021. She was 71 years in age. She was born to Rev. Edwin and Mrs. Pearlene Scott. She was the oldest of four children born into this union.
Linda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. A.W. Wilson at Bethel AME Church. She was a delegate at many church conferences in Waco, Texas and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Linda graduated from Dunbar High School in 1967. She was a member of the Panther Marching Band, playing clarinet for 4 years. She was also a runner-up for Miss Dunbar. After high school, Linda attended Texas Women University before transferring to Texas Southern University. She received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work. While attending TSU, she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
On July 3, 1971 she married Freddie Roberson and to this union two sons were born. After graduating from TSU in August 1971, Linda worked for Houston ISD as a teacher assistant and eventually gained her Alternative Certification in Elementary Education. Her teaching experiences included Christ the King, St. Ambrose, Houston ISD and Klein ISD. Her greatest success was making her students love math and science. She was a phenomenal math teacher. For 40 years she touched the lives of thousands of kindergarteners and first graders. She retired in 2014 from Klein ISD after 40 years in education.
Even though Linda was a phenomenal teacher, she was blessed with many talents including Interior Designs, Floral arrangements, Sewing and the Culinary Arts. She was a planner and coordinator of many Scott family reunions.
Even though after retirement she faced many medical hardships, her focus of planning, creating, and sharing her many talents never ceased. We will miss her hosting our family gathering at Thanksgiving at her home.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Freddie Roberson of 49 years; two sons, Broderick Roberson (Alesia) of Round Rock; Ulric Roberson (Rachelle) of Tomball; three grandchildren Kamar'ria, Khari and Kingston Roberson; two sisters- Pat Adams (Robert) of Houston; Frances Lampkin (Robert) of Arlington and one brother, Edwin Scott Jr. (Dora) of Lubbock. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and long-life family and friends.
