Linda Refice Peters passed away on January 17, 2021. Linda was born on April 14, 1948 in Flint, Michigan to Louie and Mary (Conti) Refice. She was a creative, athletic, musical girl who loved to read and write, and made friends where ever she went.
Linda earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1970 and a Master's Degree in 1977 from Central Michigan University. She also attended Sam Houston State University and St. Thomas University in Houston, Texas for additional certifications.
She began her teaching career in 1970 in Flint at St. Leo the Great Catholic School as a middle school English, History, and Geography teacher. She continued at Donovan North Catholic School from 1971 to 1976. In 1977, Linda became a school counselor for Merrill Community Schools.
In 1981, Linda made the bold move to Texas, where she worked as a school counselor at Hildebrandt Intermediate School, impacting the lives of many students and families. Linda retired from Klein ISD in 2006, but continued as a counselor at The Healing Place, working with CPS, foster, and adopted children. She also taught a college prep class at Lone Star College. Linda worked with Rejoice Counseling, providing services through Catholic churches in the Diocese of Galveston/Houston.
Linda found joy being involved in her parish, Christ the Good Shepherd. She served as a Spiritual Director, ACTS team member, 55+ Club, Catechist, RCIA catechist, and Serra Club of North Houston. She was a member of several bible study groups over the years, including Arise and Formed. She was best known as "Mother Superior of The Society of Short Sisters" by her beloved ACTS sisters.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved aunt "Zizi" Delia Refice. She leaves behind her brothers, Bob (Christine) Refice, Davison, Michigan, and their daughter Andrea; Ray (Kathy) Refice, Grand Blanc, Michigan, and their daughters Lissa Refice and Lauren (Tyler) Long, and son Daniel "G" Refice; stepson Christopher (Noma) Peters and their daughter Evelyn. Linda was proud of her Italian roots, and leaves behind many extended families and paisanos. She was an honorary aunt, godmother, mentor and friend to many.
A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Community on February 24th at 11:00 A.M. Linda will be laid to rest at Cavalry Catholic Cemetery in Flint, Michigan. Family and friends unable to attend, can view the funeral Mass at:

Linda was deeply moved and filled with gratitude by the outpouring of love and encouragement through prayers, phone calls, texts, flowers and cards over the past seven months. In lieu of flowers, Linda requested that donations may be made in her name to Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Spring Texas; St. John Catholic Church in Davison, Michigan; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
