Obituary

Hermelinda Castillo, born on January 28, 1955, in Mexico moved on from earth and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2024.  She leaves behind a beautiful history of unconditional love and devotion, survived by her children Veronica Castro of San Antonio, Texas and Nadia Solazzo of Cypress, Texas, grandchildren Jesus Javier Enciso, Alexis Farias, Princeton Castro, Jade Sanchez, Jocelyn Sanchez, and Penelope Solazzo, brothers Federico Leyva and Rigoberto Leyva, sisters Evangelina Leyva, Josefina Leyva, and Socorro Leyva as well as many loved nieces, nephews and in-laws. Hermelinda is preceded in death by her brothers Pedro Leyva and Alfonso Leyva Castillo and sister Juanita Leyva.

Hermelinda, known by her loved ones as "Linda", was raised by her grandmother Lolita Castillo in Mexico.  She came to Houston in 1975 pursuing a better life for herself and her daughter Veronica recovering from the loss of  her husband in Mexico.  After arriving in the United States she fell in love with Servando Lopez and gave birth to her second daughter Nadia in 1977.  Linda and Servando were blessed with 15 years full of precious family memories before separating in 1993.

Working as a waitress for 25 years and eventually owning and operating her own cleaning business, Linda's life was never easy.  She handled every challenge life through at her with great strength and grace and she lived each day with a loving and joyful heart.  Linda loved to be around people and she touched the hearts of those around her with endless kindness and love.

Linda loved the Lord and going to church with her family were among her most cherished moments.  She loved her two daughters dearly and had a special bond with her all of her grandchildren.  They could always see the joy they brought to her and being around a grandmother with a patient and loving heart brought them great comfort.

Although she has departed this world, the love Linda shared with all who had the blessing of knowing her will live on in our hearts.
