Linda Mahaffey Ballentine Obituary

Born 7/18/1947 to Ray Mahaffey and Barbara Gardner Mahaffey at St. Josephs Hospital, Houston.  Granddaughter to multigenerational Native Texans, German on one side, Irish on the other.  Her father and mother were native Houstonians. Linda went to Jones High School, Houston, soon after it was originally built, with their home sharing a fence with the school.  She was an enthusiastic member of the Commodore Drill Team as a twirler. She graduated from Lamar Tech University with a degree in Education with a minor in Art.  Linda met Jim (James) on a blind date long after both had sworn never to blind date again.  Her childhood friend pushed hard to make the date happen. For 54 years they showed the date was the right choice after all.  They have a daughter, Stacey Blanchette, and a son Marcus Ballentine, granddaughter Sayde, grandson Phoenix, and grandson Parker.  She was a faithful attendee to the McMahon Family reunion near Bremond, TX from the very first gathering.  Her banana pudding was the ticket of admission as required by all McMahons.  They have had fantastic neighbors as great friends for 40 years.  Linda and Jim attended Grace Presbyterian Church, Houston, for the same 40 years.
