Obituary

Lina Allgaier Duerr was born on May 22, 1925, in Lorch, Germany. She passed away on March 4, 2020 at the age of 94 in Magnolia, Texas.  Lina is survived by Daughters Barbara (Al) Williams, Chris Duerr, Grandson, Alan (Amber) Williams, and Granddaughter Alexandra Tomasek. She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph Duerr Jr, Father, Emil Allgaier , Mother, Magdalena, Brothers, Emil Allgaier, Herman Allgaier, Hans Allgaier, Georg Allgaier, and Sister, Pauline Fritz.

She lived in Lorch during World War II and along with her mother continued to operate the Allgaier family Restaurant during the war. At the end of the war the American soldiers took over the Allgaier and made it the local headquarters as they had cold beer.

She met the love of her life Adolf Duerr Jr. at the Allgaier Restaurant.

Adolf was born in Germany, but his family moved to Chelsea, Michigan after World War 1. His family travelled back to Lorch to visit family and friends in 1952. It was at the Allgaier where she first landed eyes on Adolf, it was love at first sight. She told a coworker that she was going to marry him, and six weeks later they were married in Germany. She sailed to America on the Queen Mary in 1953.

Lina was an accomplished cook and loved to cook for everyone, Her German meals were legendary, you could always count on warm yeast rolls coming out of the oven on Saturday morning. As well as the best Spätzle on the planet.

She loved to share her life experiences with her family and friends, Her stories about the war, growing up, and coming to America were shared often. She loved nothing more than her family and gathering around the dinner table every night.
