LILLIE CASTAÑEDA SAUNDERS

Our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, Lillie Castañeda Saunders, 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in Tomball, Tx. at the home of her daughter.  Lillie was born in San Antonio, Tx. on October 27, 1925. She graduated from San Antonio Vocational and Technical School in 1943.

Lillie is pre-deceased by her parents Celso Alvarado Castañeda and Lucy (Schilling) Castañeda and her sister Beatrice (Castañeda) Quesenberry. She is also pre-deceased by her loving husband, Homer Lamar Saunders. They were married in February 1944 at the Naval Air Station, Chase Field, Beeville, Tx.  Lillie is pre-deceased by two of her five children: Charles Lambert Saunders and Mary Evelyn (Saunders) Wright. She is survived by three of her children: Leland Nelson Saunders (wife Kathi) of Alamo Tx., Lucinda (Cindy) Maria Saunders Smith of Tomball, Tx. and Thomas Lamar Saunders Sr. of Cleveland, Tx.; ten grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was happy in life and went peacefully in death. She will be missed.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 14th, 2023, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main Street, Tomball, Texas 77375. The Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 15th, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1111 Cherry Street, Tomball, Texas 77375, with Fr. Tommy presiding. Interment to follow at 1 PM in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.

Serving as pallbearers are: Thomas Lamar Saunders Jr., Charles Rodney Saunders, Lucas Lamar Wright, Bill Barnes III, Ricky Soto, and David West Jr.
