Lillie Frantiska Ruhmann passed away Sunday, January 24th, 2021, at Silver Sage Assisted Living, in Brenham, TX. Lillie was born March 19th, 1924 in Fayettville, Texas, to Paul and Mary Novosad.

She joined the Coast Guard at the age of 20 in May of 1944 and was discharged April of 1946. During this time she served as Yeoman Third Class traveling around the US including Brooklyn, NY and New Orleans, LA. She was sent to IBM school because she could type and then worked out of the Coast Guard supply depot in New York. With her one day off a week, she still made it to church on Sundays, which is what she looked forward to during the war. After the war was over, Lillie started a job with Joske's department store which then was bought out by Dillards. She retired from there and was able to enjoy life with her husband, daughter and grandchildren at home and traveling to their country place out in New Ulm, TX.

She met her husband Owen at a dance in Fayetteville. They corresponded over the years with letters and telegrams. Owen finally proposed and they started their life long journey on October 19th 1947. They loved going out dancing every Saturday night. She had a great memory and would always share entertaining personal stories. She was strong-willed and independent, and loved to visit and be around people. She also loved playing with her great grandchildren every chance she had. She was a long time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband Owen Ruhmann; her daughter Cynthia Kaminski; and her siblings Robert and Jerome Novosad and Alice Whiteman.

She is survived by her granddaughters; Stephanie McNeill and husband James McNeill; Pamela McKean and husband Brett McKean, Valerie Maher and husband Zach Maher, great grandchildren, Veronica, Aidan and Gabriella Loredo and Taylor, Mason, and Brooklyn McKean, and Jaxen and Greyson Maher.
