Lila L. Schoonover, a very devoted, loving  wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt of Spring, Texas died Sunday, February 4, 2018.  She was 92 years old.  She was born March 8.1925 to Vaughn and Ethel Peterson in Fremont, Nebraska.  Her father was a Lt. Colonel in the army and after attending several high schools in Nebraska and Maryland, she met the love of her life Grover Schoonover who proposed to her the first time he met her.  After the end of WWII they married on July 23, 1945 and enjoyed 61 years of married bliss.   They spent the first couple of years of marriage in Phoenix , Arizona where Grover was a deputy sheriff with the Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff's Office.

In 1950 after her son Stephen was born, Grover was appointed  as a Special Agent with the FBI and they lived in several cities before settling in Houston, Texas.  In 2015 she moved to Spring Creek Village Assisted Living in Spring,Texas where many special angels cared for her..

Lila enjoyed her friends, squaring dancing, working in the yard, and most of all playing bridge.  She was also an accomplished oil painter.

She is survived by her son Stephen Schoonover and wife Cheryl, granddaughter Shauna Schoonover and her fiancé Scott Joseph, grandson Scott Schoonover and wife Ashley, sister Leatrice Miller, brother Terry Peterson, and numerous nephews and nieces.  She is preceded in death by her husband Grover and brother Clay Peterson.
