Lewis F. Baker was born in Crystal Falls, Michigan on November 18, 1936, and passed away in Cypress, Texas on May 13, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Bischoff and his parents, Alfred, Charlotte Baker, sister Lisa Weidmann and grandson, Brian Baker.

Lewis is survived by his sons, Michael Baker (spouse Melody), Bobby Baker (spouse Michelle), and Steven Baker (spouse Monique), sister Lynanne Holmquist, and grandchildren Laura Mottor, Scott Baker, David Baker, Erin Baker & Michaela Baker.

Lewis, or Lew as many called him, grew up in Rhinelander, WI and played football and ice hockey in high school.  Lew graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1959 with a Chemical Engineering degree, where he and Bonnie met.

After working in paper companies and other engineering capacities, Lew & Bonnie migrated south to Shreveport, LA with 2 toddlers and added a 3rd a few years later. Lew moved the family to Houston, TX for work and stayed for the remainder of his life.

After retiring early, Lew and Bonnie ran a very successful Dog Obedience School and toured the country in their motor home competing and judging in Obedience Competitions.  His wife Bonnie was a nationally recognized AKC Obedience Trainer and Judge, and after his retirement, he started a new venture in the 1980s, obedience training his Golden Retriever, Honey.

They usually won Dog Obedience competitions and twice held the #1 dog in the nation.  (This explains why their kids were so well behaved.) Together they obtained the OTCH title.  He and Bonnie also owned and ran "Dogwood Obedience School" in Tomball, TX for many years.

Lew's additional passions include flying his planes and playing saxophone in local Community College and other bands.  After getting his pilot license in 1970 he would enjoy flying his Beechcraft Baron around Texas and beyond.  Lew was first chair tenor sax in local Community College Bands in the Tomball, TX area. Lew's incredibly amazing musical talent led him to sit in with the Buddy Rich and Pete Fountain bands.  Yes, he was that good and his playing always amazed us.

A committal service for Lewis will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst, TX.
