Leta Marie Stansberry Born April 14, 1926 in Porter Springs, Texas Passed away October 12, 2019 at the Age 93 Years, 6 Months, and 28 days. Leta graduated from Crockett High School in 1943 (at that time there were only 11 grades in schools); she was a very good student and following graduation, she was accepted into the Baptist Memorial School of Nursing in Houston, Texas. She and her father lived in a boarding house and sent money home to support her mother and younger sister. The war ended in 1945 and she married her first husband, Charlie Edward Brunson, Jr., September 1, 1945. At that time, nursing students could not be married, so she was forced to leave nurse's training; she then obtained a position with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Their only daughter, Cheryl Anne, was born on December 5, 1946. After moving to the north side of Houston, she began working at Weingarten's Grocery Store where was a bookkeeper in the store's office. After retirement from Weingarten's she began working at Walmart in their office.
She was married to her first husband for 23 years before his death in 1968; she remained a widow for 18 years. She was introduced to her second husband, Harry Daniel Stansberry by her younger sister; they were married nearly 30 years before his death in 2013.
She enjoyed gardening, reading traveling, and listening to gospel and country music. She loved all her family dearly.
