Lester L. Girton, II, age 71, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 29th, 2018 in Spring TX. Les was born in Bloomsburg, PA in the year 1947.  He is preceded by his father Lester Leonard Girton I, his mother Margaret Girton and sister Jeannie Girton.  He leaves behind his wife of 47 years JoAnne Girton, daughter, Kimberly Thrasher and husband Jason, son, Patrick Girton and wife Kristen, and grandchildren, Ryan Thrasher, Bailey Thrasher, Katie Girton, Tiffanie Girton and Dylan Girton.  He also leaves behind many cherished friends.  Les served in the United States Army as a para trooper for the Infantry at Fort Richardson in Alaska.

Les began and ended his career with Bechtel.  He began his career working in the field at the age of 22. He retired at the age of 67 reaching his goal of becoming a Corporate Procurement Manager.  His job and his position took him to many different states and countries, moving him and his family 13 times.  He was dedicated to his work and made sure that he performed every task precise and with excellence. He received a letter of recognition from George W. Bush for his work during Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

During his retirement Les served on the HOA of Northampton and was involved with the Equity Membership of Willow Creek. He loved to play golf and in fact, he had his own golf cart. Les enjoyed fishing but always complained he didn't do it enough.  He enjoyed all sports, but had an extreme love for baseball. His knowledge of players, teams and statistics were astounding.

Not everyone got his sense of humor, but for those of us who did, he has made a lasting impression.  You may not have always agreed with him but you can agree that he was always upstanding and fair.

In the words of one of his childhood idols Ty Cobb "I may have been fierce, but never low or underhand".
