Oakley Pittman lost his fight against Alzheimer's on the 9th day of October at the age of 72 .
He was born June 28th 1950 to Leonidas Oakley Pittman II and Hulda Belle Vincent, in
Alexandria, Louisiana. After graduating from Bolton High in 1968, he attended Northwestern
State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and married his high school
sweetheart of 52 years Jan Wilkerson Pittman. They graduated together in 1974 and moved to
Houston, Texas where they raised son Chris and daughter Janie. Oakley worked for many years
in the oil and gas industry for Smith Int., Willis Oil, and Cameron Iron Works and retired in 2005.

Oakley loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, and coaching his
kid's sports teams. He took great joy in watching every bit of his children's and grandchildren's
activities and sporting events and was a lifelong Astros and LSU Tigers fan but, could often be
seen wearing Aggie maroon where his daughter attended college. He felt that something was
missing if a Labrador was not part of the immediate family and loved his memories of Beaux,
Reese, and Duke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Maydie Walker and is survived by his wife
Jan; his son Chris and daughter-in-law Kristen, their children Scarlett and Oakley; his daughter
Janie and son-in-law Marc, their children Hunter and Morgan; niece Wendy Jobe, nephews
Brian Walker and James Walker; and current Lab Duke.
A Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday the 14th of October at Klein Funeral Home Cy Fair
Northwest located at 9719 Wortham Blvd in Houston. The family will have a private graveside
service Saturday October 15th. The Pittman family would like to sincerely thank the doctors,
nurses, and caregivers at Memorial Hermann Cypress. In lieu of customary remembrances, the
family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Oakley's honor be directed to the
Alzheimer's Association.
