Leonard Earl Vogt, was born on August 17, 1931 and entered Heaven's gates on May 5, 2024. He was born in Houston at Memorial Hospital to William and Leah Vogt.

Leonard grew up in Spring Branch, helping his parents with the Vogt Grocery Store that was on Katy Road where they lived above the store. Leonard went to Spring Branch Elementary School. His family moved to Sealy for a short time and after moving back to Spring Branch, he attended Cypress Fairbanks High School for 2 years. He completed his Junior and Senior year at Spring Branch High School once it opened and graduated from there in 1950.

At age 19 he enlisted in the Navy on February 28, 1951. Leonard was a Boatswain Mate 3rd Class of the Amphibious Branch. There he drove Landing Ship Vessels, driving troops and jeeps from the ship to the shore. He was assigned to the USS Bayfield Ship being stationed in Japan, Hawaii and Korea. Part of his service was during the Korean war. He was discharged in February 1955 at the age of 23.

After his military service he worked for Coca Cola as a Route Salesman for 16 years. Leonard took early retirement at age 41, then worked at his own business of Duraclean for the next 20 years. Later in life he also worked for Klein Funeral Home and Schrampfor Marketing.

Leonard is preceded in death by his sweetheart Joyce, who he married on April 8, 1961. They had been married for 55 years.

He is survived by their two children, Gwen Ulrich and her husband Johnny, Richard Vogt and his wife Michele, along with his grandchildren Kerri (Ulrich) Houck and her husband Brad, Matthew Ulrich, Joshua Vogt and his wife Samantha, Lindsey (Vogt) Driskell and her husband Hunter.

Leonard never met a stranger. He was very social, loved dancing and listening to live music. He also enjoyed hunting, watching the Houston Texans, barbecuing and spending time with friends and family. His love for our Lord and Savior was infectious. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Leonard's Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church - 1515 Hillendahl, Houston, TX. 77055

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church where Leonard and his family were founding members
