Leona D. Luczak, was born on June 1, 1923 to Joseph and Annie Mae Miller in East Bernard, Texas. Her family would later move to the Houston area. Leona was eldest of seven children. Predeceased by husband William Joseph Luczak and their infant son, William J., sisters, Patricia Miller and Juanita (Dickie) Miller Thompson, brothers, Sonny Boy and Robert J. Miller.

Leona is survived by sister, Elizabeth Miller Landon and brother, Tommy Miller.

Leona is also survived by her daughter Jewel Tips and husband Gene, and her daughter Dorothy Jean Harris and husband Glenn, her 6 grandchildren, Ronn Tips and wife Kara, Carl Tips and soon to be wife Amanda, Christine Spray and husband David, Charlette Howard and husband Kelvin, Traci Chiappetta and husband Tom and Bill Buford and wife Rae along with 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. Leona and William loved their grandchildren dearly letting them roam freely and create wonderful memories on the "country property''-building mini log structures from the trees they cut themselves.

Leona was a loving wife and mother, a friend to many and a beautiful woman both inside and out. For many years she volunteered as the "designated driver'' for the seniors' trip to the HE Butts Camp in the Hill Country. She was always concerned for those less fortunate and acted on her convictions by spending a great deal of her time collecting bread for the food pantry at Holy Family Catholic Church. Leona often gave freely of her time to help others including driving them to doctor appointments and even assisting with building stairs as needed. While living in Sugarland, Leona looked forward to her weekly game of 42 with good friends.

Leona was a true "crafter'' at heart. She created beautiful angels of copper wire and beads and crocheted a number of gorgeous Afghans for family and friends. Although Leona had a fulltime job at Goodyear, she still found time to sew shirts for William, her husband, which matched her own beautiful square dancing outfits with layers of petticoats.

Leona and her sister, Elizabeth, were quite adventurous, making 4 different trips driving from Texas to Alaska. Listening to their travel stories was a pleasure to all who loved and admired their energy . Leona was also quite the horticulturist. George McAfee, a dear friend, was amazed by a new grafting technique Leona developed. They both loved experimenting and improving on grafting different fruit trees in the Houston/Sugarland area . An important legacy Leona left for other is that her friend, George, is presently teaching Leona's grafting technique to others.

Leona was a woman of strong will and determination with a feisty spirit who was dearly loved by many. Special thanks to all who lovingly cared for her the last 5 years.
