Obituary

Leo H. Haas, Jr. drew his last breath and was called to eternal peace on March 29, 2026, at the age of 74.

Leo was a native Houstonian born on July 16, 1951.  He was raised and resided in Houston his entire life.  Leo was a proud alumni of the St. Thomas High School graduating class of 1969.  He attended Texas A&M University and then the University of Houston where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.  Leo spent his entire forty-three year career with CenterPoint Energy.

When he wasn't working, he volunteered his time at St. Ambrose Catholic Church serving on the finance board, as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and in many other ways to support the parish community.  He also served on the Woodland Trails West Homeowners Association, the Harris County MUD 23 board, and the Heron Lakes Estates Home Owners Association board.

Leo was a man of principal.  Most people were not able to escape his banter, quick wit, and candor.  Leo's absence will leave an immeasurable void in the lives of those who knew him.

Leo is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Angela Marie Haas, his parents Leo and Bernice Haas, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Bernice and Bruno Lewandowski, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Haas and Cynthia Bisso, and nephew Paul Bisso.

Leo is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Catherine Haas, son Derrick Haas (Jennifer), daughter Lindsey Haas, and grandsons Luke, William, and Charles Haas, brothers Leslie Haas (Cynthia), Larry Haas (Sherry), Lamar Haas, and Louis Haas, brothers and sisters-in-law John Lewandowski, Gregg Bisso (Beverly), Robert Williams (Mary), Joseph Lewandowski (Sheri), James Lewandowski (Heather) and numerous nieces and nephews.
