Leah DeAnn Languirand, aged 53, of Cypress, TX passed away at Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital on the rainy Wednesday morning of October 27th. She and her husband Steven had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on October 12th.

Leah first graced this earth with her smile in May of 1968 in Wichita Falls, TX, the first-born of her parents Gary and Kay Holman. She spent the first five years of her life as the apple of her mother's eye, making room in her heart for her sister and lifelong best friend, Lori, five years later.  From that moment forward, they became "The Three Musketeers" to anyone who knew them, always remaining close and spending time together sharing their love of art, music, cooking, and crafting.

Leah moved with her family to Kentucky in 1979, relocating due to her father's job; she played softball in grade school and enjoyed snowy winter days playing outside with her sister. The family spent time in Houston beginning in 1982; she attended CyFair High School in Cypress, TX. It was in the halls of school where Leah first met the love of her life, Steven - their paths would cross again and be forever intertwined. She played the flute in the marching band and was a bright, diligent student.

After graduation in 1986, Leah settled in the Dallas area with her family and enrolled in the University of Texas at Arlington, first majoring in English Literature. Leah worked as a lifeguard at the local amusement park during college. She later graduated from The University of Texas Permian Basin with her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. Her career in healthcare began shortly thereafter and she worked for several major insurance carriers to provide contracts for recruiting physicians. She served as a mentor and trainer to her coworkers and teams over the years, taking new employees under her wing to guide them gently with her experience.

After a romantic proposal on Christmas Eve, Leah was married to her husband, Steven, on October 12, 1996, in a joyous yet intimate ceremony with friends and family in Dallas, TX and they settled in the Houston area to build a life together. Leah and Steven enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings over the years, their home festooned with holiday crafts and decorations, always warm and inviting with the smell of pumpkin, apples, and vanilla. She loved animals and doted on her chihuahua Dobie for 16 years, welcomed Steven's rescue dog Amanda into their home, and later together rescued a border collie mix, Pede. Leah and Steven regularly made time for each other with trips outside of the city to relax in Brenham, TX, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Their time away was precious and filled with reconnecting, laughter, and making each other a priority.

Leah frequently traveled to Dallas to visit her parents, making time for an annual trip with her mother, Kay, and sister, Lori, to First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX, the world's largest flea market. Leah was an avid crafter and thrifter, shopping for antique furniture to refinish and upholster. She created homemade gifts to give during the holidays, whether it be greeting cards, tree ornaments, or edible treats from her kitchen. Leah loved flowers and greenery, growing rose bushes in her yard and weaving greenery into her crafts. Leah and Steven hosted haunted houses during many Halloweens, invited neighbors for Thanksgiving dinners, and made time to attend gatherings and play games during Christmas. She loved to practice sketching, curl up with a good book, drink her coffee on a wooden porch swing in the backyard, and visit dollar stores to hunt for a good deal. Her favorite movie was The Princess Bride, she adored Stevie Nicks and upbeat 80s tunes, and had a deep appreciation for Monet and impressionist paintings.

Leah and Steven found a home with St Timothy Lutheran Church of Houston, TX almost 20 years ago, with Leah serving as a mentor and teacher to teenage members of the congregation, building their faith through Bible studies and helping build the community through fun events. In May 2014, Leah traveled to Africa on a mission trip where she assisted with an eye clinic to serve local families, helping serve over 1,000 people in three days. Her ever-cheerful presence and optimistic outlook was appreciated by the entire congregation, and she was a beloved member.

Leah is survived by her faithful, devoted husband Steven Earl Languirand of Cypress, TX; loving sister Lori Ann Holman of Dallas, TX; and beloved father Gary Edward Holman of Grand Prairie, TX; and a countless number of family, friends, and those whose lives she touched during her time on this earth. She is preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Kay Holman of Grand Prairie, TX; maternal grandparents Bill and Gertrude Durham; paternal grandparents George and Imogene Holman.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 1 pm at Saint Timothy Lutheran Church, located at 14225 Hargrave Road in Houston, TX with refreshments provided afterward. Her family welcomes all friends and family to attend the memorial, led by Pastor Steve Henze, to celebrate her amazing life. Flowers are being provided by Sicola's Florist on Jones Road. Donations can be made to any of the following, which were all causes near and dear to Leah's heart: CoreLuv International, Inc (which provides life-saving medical care for children in Uganda), Care Net Pregnancy Center (which provides free medical testing and education for pregnant women), any organization that supports Breast Cancer Awareness and Fundraising efforts, and any local homeless outreach program.
