Lazaro Gonzales "Pelon/Pico" Almengor
May 19, 1940 – September 18, 2025

Lazaro Gonzales "Pelon or Pico" Almengor, 85, was welcomed into the glory of Christ our Savior on September 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1940, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where he spent his childhood before later settling in Tomball, Texas.

Lazaro proudly served in the United States Army for three years, during which he had the opportunity to travel the world, spending much of his time stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Dora "Jeni" Almengor. Together they shared many years of devotion and love until her passing in 2013.

Lazaro spent most of his life working as a skilled small engine mechanic and dedicated many years of his career to Brown & Root. Known for his strong work ethic, steady character, and dedication to his craft, he earned the respect and admiration of many.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dora "Jeni" Almengor; his parents, Lazaro Almengor and Refugio "Cuca" Gonzales; his brothers, Juan Almengor, Ramon Almengor, and two brothers who passed away at an early age.

He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Gaylen and Valerie Howell, Tony and Carmen Fite, and Sara Almengor. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Anthony Fite, Hannah Campbell, Patrick Fite, and Michael Fite, as well as several great-grandchildren. Lazaro is further survived by numerous nieces, cousins, and special friends who will continue to hold his memory close.

Affectionately known for his charm and warmth, Lazaro had a way of making everyone who knew him feel loved. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing his guitar, watching old westerns, and caring for his geese. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he will be deeply missed as a treasured part of our lives.
