Lawrence Jack Rollins, 77, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on June 4, 2020. Born on October 20, 1942, in Smithville, Texas, Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence F. and Bertha Rollins (née Culp), and by his brother, Joe Kubicek.

Jack was vice president of his class at Smithville High School, and graduated cum laude in 1961. Following graduation, he began working at a gas company in Smithville; however, moved to Houston, Texas, immediately after he got married in 1964.

Once in Houston, Jack started working at an office downtown, but eventually realized a 'desk job' just wasn't for him. So he then began working in what would become a long career in the railroad industry. He worked for Southern Pacific, which eventually became Union Pacific, for over 30 years, finally retiring in 2003. Jack was an excellent provider for his family, pulling countless double shifts and working many overtime hours to ensure they were always well taken care of.

Jack was an avid lover of the Houston Astros, and remained a devoted supporter of the Texas Longhorns, despite having a family full of Aggies. He had a strong wit and a love for jokes and laughter—always telling the latest jokes he'd heard to everyone he encountered. He also enjoyed scratch-off lotto tickets, and playing Sudoku and Dominoes.

Jack raised four wonderful daughters, and when he married Patricia Rollins in 1998, gained additional family, which he came to love as his own, including the sons he never had.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Rollins, of Cypress, Texas; sister, Mona Kay Wells (Charles, pre-deceased) of Hallettsville, Texas; children, Sheila Dillard (Ken), Sherry Smith (Steven), Mary Andrus (Michael), Heather Ferguson (Wayne), Michael Sims (Sheryl Gibbs), Craig Sims (Deborah) and Michelle Pizzi-Adams (Justin); grandchildren, Cash, Taylor, Emily, Pierce, Pryce, Ashlyn, Lauren, Brielle, Brennan, Sarah, Allison, Lance, Drew, Kyler and Amy; sister-in-law, Norma Kubicek; and mother-in-law, Margaret Smith.

A viewing will be held at Klein Funeral Home Cy-Fair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, Texas 77065, on Monday, June 8, from 5 – 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, but due to COVID, will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Jack's family requests that donations in his name be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research , Lifegift organ donation or to the charity of your choice.
