Byrne of Ruby, New York. He was born in Kingston, New York on March 5, 1938. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1956 and began his career with Texaco Oil Company working as a gas station attendant on the New York Thruway. Larry married his wife, Alice, in May 1965. They resided in Saugerties, New York where they welcomed four children to their family. Larry had a strong work ethic which allowed him to advance with Texaco. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice; children, Bridget (Tim) Shoecraft, Timothy (Annette) Byrne, Patrick (Kursten) Byrne; 10 grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth and Victoria Shoecraft; Falynne, Logan, Gabrielle, Kaitlyn, Meghan, Brendan, and Connor Byrne; brother Bernard; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lawrence J. (L.J.) Byrne, III; and grandchild, Thomas J. Shoecraft.
Larry was known for his strong faith and desire to serve. From his youth, he was active in the church, first as an altar boy and later as a volunteer in church ministries. He was a vibrant member of The Prince of Peace Catholic community until his battle with Parkinson's rendered him bedridden. He loved his family and was a beautiful example to them of love for the Lord and neighbor. Larry was known by all for his quick wit and warm smile. He was patient, kind, honest, and loyal- traits that his family deeply admired and hope to carry on in his memory.
