Lawanda Fay Schulze Hemann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 15, 1936, in Serbin, Texas, to Edwin C. and Adele Noack Schulze.

Fay was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin. At age two, her family moved to The Heights, a historic neighborhood in northwest-central Houston. There, she continued her journey in faith at Trinity Lutheran Church and Grade School in Downtown Houston. She was confirmed on Palm Sunday, March 18, 1951, by Dr. Harms. Fay was a proud graduate of Lutheran High School and served as valedictorian of the Class of 1955. She enjoyed music throughout her life—she played piano and sang in both church and school choirs, including the Houston Lutheran Choral. After graduating, she attended Massey Business College, where she studied shorthand, dictation, and typing — skills that served her well in the years to come.

As a secretary at the Edsel Division of Ford Motor Company, Fay began her career—and even had the unique experience of modeling for the company at the Auto Show. She later worked for Republic Steel and eventually served as executive secretary to the president of AZ International Tool Company.

In 1976, Fay earned her real estate license and spent over 30 years helping families find their homes. She formed lasting bonds through warmth, honesty, and faith. In a field often driven by pressure, Fay stood apart—unwavering in integrity and open in her Christian faith. She led with quiet conviction, offering not just guidance, but a lasting example of character.

Fay met her beloved husband, Fred Hemann, on a blind date on March 16, 1956. They were married on October 18, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston. Together, they built a life grounded in love, guided by faith, and centered on family. Along the way, they raised two children, Sheri and Mark, and shared nearly 67 extraordinary years of devoted marriage.

Fay is survived by her loving husband, Fred Hemann; her children, Mark (Kathy) Hemann and Sheri (Michael) Stinson; and her grandchildren: Jordan (Taylor) Lubinski, Kayla (Colby) Boyd, Madison (Ben) Schumacher, Courtney Moore and fiancé Tristan Horton, and Trevor Ashmore and fiancée Rachel Waite. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-granddaughters, Amelia Lubinski and Logan Boyd.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Schulze; sister-in-law, Jean Schulze; and brothers-in-law, Don Hemann and Victor Hemann.

Fay's home was a warm and inviting place—neat, peaceful, and always prepared with something sweet on the counter for whoever might stop by. Known lovingly as "Mimi" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she created a haven where they felt safe, cherished, and endlessly loved. Her lemon and chocolate pies were family treasures, and her pie crust strips rarely made it to the table uneaten. Her homemade noodles were a go-to cure for any cold or any grandchild in need of a little extra love. She was a faithful crossword puzzler, a natural listener, and a woman who loved quietly and deeply.  She also gave generously of her time to the church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, passing on her love for faith and learning to children for years.

Fay was the embodiment of quiet kindness. She gave freely of her time, her heart, and her faith—always with humility and grace. Her presence brought comfort, her values left an impression, and her life made the world gentler for those lucky enough to know her. Though deeply missed by all who knew her, her family finds comfort in the enduring warmth of her love and the quiet strength of her example.

Now, in the presence of her Savior, she is home. We give thanks for her life, rejoice in her eternal peace, and say goodbye with hearts full of love, until we meet again.

Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away,

yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
