LaVerne Reynolds, 80, of Houston, walked into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on December 26, 2023. LaVerne was born in Houston on November 8, 1943 to Ernest and Evelyn Parsons and attended Reagan High School. She came to know Christ at a young age and lived each day with heavenly purpose.

LaVerne grew up an active member of Glenn Rose Baptist Church with her parents. It was at this church where she met and married her high-school sweetheart, Tommy, whom she was happily married to for 62 years. Tommy and LaVerne maintained strong, lifelong friendships that developed as part of this Glenn Rose church family so many years ago. They joined Champion Forest Baptist Church after moving to the "suburbs" to raise their children. They spent much of their lives in Fountainhead where they made great friends and raised their girls, Rhonda and Renee. LaVerne remained best friends with those neighbors she met during that time of life. She also made lasting friendships as she worked at Greenwood Forest Elementary.

LaVerne loved going to Rockport, having a good meal and playing all kinds of games through the last days of her life. She was known to enjoy a little time at a casino when she could.

Her greatest joy was her family. Although she couldn't be as active as she would have liked, she knew every detail about what was happening in the lives of her kids and grandkids as she devoted to praying for them daily.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Truxton Reynolds, Jr.; her parents Ernest and Evelyn Parsons; her brother, Leroy Parsons; and her sister, Gloria Parsons. She is survived by: daughters Renee Barbe (Dean) and Rhonda Hargrove (Tom); grandchildren Morgan Wagner (Nathan), Mason Mai (Morgan), Darbey Hargrove, Mackenzie Hargrove, and Rex Hargrove; bonus grandkids Hannah Barbe (Terry) and Cole Barbe (Emily); great grandchildren, Harrison Wagner, Miles Barbe and Mila Mai; and a large extended crew on both the Parsons and Reynolds sides.

Per LaVerne's request, there will be a private family graveside service at Historic Hollywood Cemetery on Friday, December 29, 2023.
