Obituary

Laura Catherine "Cathy" Landers, Magnolia, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024.  She was born on June 3, 1950, in Port Arthur, Texas. She was 74 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Steven Landers; sons Travis Luke Landers and Ryan Earl Landers, Katja Kirchner, Ryan's fiancé all of Magnolia, Texas.  Brother Chris Spivey; sister Karen Smith and her husband Bill; brother Carl Harris.  Brothers-in-law David Landers, Jr., Doug Landers and his wife Debbie. Sisters-in-law Cynthia Tucker and her husband Gary, Sheila Jamar and her husband Wally. Many nephews and nieces, who all adored their Aunt Cathy. She was an awesome aunt!

She was preceded in death by her father, Ellis Welcome Spivey, her mother, Flora Delores Jones and her step-father Hilan Jones. As well as father-in-law, David Earl Landers and mother-in-law Mable "Joyce" Landers.

Cathy worked most of her career in the healthcare industry, working in doctor's offices and hospitals.  She retired from Tomball Regional Hospital where she worked in the Business Office for 13 years.

Years before her retirement, Cathy and Dean purchased a place in Port O'Connor.  It was a place of relaxation for her where she loved to go fishing on their boat. Many times she was the only one who caught anything. Retirement meant lots of travel including cruises, road trips, and camping with friends and family – she loved the great outdoors. Also, she enjoyed the thrill of riding with Dean on the back of his motorcycle.

Cathy and Dean enjoyed their Magnolia home of 44 years, on 7.5 acres of land, with a catfish-stocked pond. It was the perfect home to raise her two sons. She loved entertaining. They hosted Boy Scout events, weddings, and numerous family gatherings. Cathy's greatest joy was hosting the annual big Thanksgiving celebrations! Before her hospitalization, she was preparing for the 43rd celebration this year. Cathy built a lifetime of memories for all who knew her.  She will be missed by all of us.

Cathy was a woman of strong faith and we are assured she was greeted into her Heavenly home by our Heavenly Father.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made In Memory of Cathy through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, website t2t.org .
