Larry Richard Oliver of Magnolia, TX went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2019. He passed away at his home at the age of 84. Larry was born on February 10, 1935 in Merryville Missouri.
Larry is a graduate of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. His career began with Mobile Oil. He then moved on to Del High Taylor and then Tenneco Oil and Gas where he worked for over 25 years. His last assignment under the Tenneco umbrella was as President of Operators Inc. which was a training center for the entire industry. After leaving Tenneco in the early 80's, he started Energy Operators, LLP, an oil and gas consulting company which he ran until his retirement. His son, Sam, took over and operated the company until his death.
Larry was an avid hunter, fisher and general outdoorsman. He was passionate about his family and attended each event, holiday and vacation chronicling every moment with a smile behind his camera.
He will be remembered with love for his hard work, generous heart, sense of humor, his perpetual positive attitude and his red Christmas sportscoat!
Larry married Dinah Eklund in Luling Texas on November 30, 1957. They were married for 61 years. They had two children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dinah Eklund Oliver, his daughter, Carla Oliver Smiley, his brother Shawn Oliver, grandchildren Chasity Lawrie Gaskin, Shane Lawrie, Katie Oliver and Jamie Oliver Scholhamer, and one great grandchild, Teagan Gaskin.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Wilma Oliver, his brother Lance Oliver, and his son Samuel Oliver.
In lieu of flowers, we would like to request that memorial donations be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
