Larry Edward Morris

1950 – 2021

Larry Edward Morris, born November 3, 1950, entered the loving arms of God on December 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene, two daughters Dara Elliott (husband Travis) and Erin Yorek (husband Dustin), two grandchildren Brody and Brea Elliott, brother Robert Morris (wife Mary), niece Megan Scheen (husband Rick) and nephew Chad Morris (wife Jody) as well as numerous extended family and friends. Larry was welcomed into heaven by his father and mother, Thomas and Loma (Dismukes) Morris. He was known as Big Larry to his dear racing buddies of many years and they hold him near as well.

Larry was a graduate of the University of Texas in 1974 and began his career as a structural engineer. In 2006, he formed his own firm, Morris Engineers, where he developed a loyal following of clients. He never had to advertise as all of his business was strictly word-of-mouth as he was a man of integrity and trust in his profession.

As a husband, he was a great protector, provider and friend. There were a great number of projects done to enable all of Darlene's crazy hobbies. Numerous large scale greenhouses were built over the years to care for an ever expanding plant collection. Also built were a pottery studio and various kilns to allow for her pottery phase. Larry loved to build projects and work with his hands as he did a lot of the carpentry on their dream home they built together in 2005. He had infinite patience and his quiet love will be a vacant place in our hearts.

Larry was a fantastic father and worshipped his two girls as they were the light of his life. He was always there with the best advice followed by "I love you sweetheart." He always greeted them with the biggest bear hug and warmest smile. He was the type of Dad that always had an answer to even the most difficult of problems. He was their first true love and will forever be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend thanks for the best cancer care to the MD Anderson Cancer Center staff of Dr. Boris Sepesi, Dr. Cezar Iliescu, Dr. Jaffer Ajani and their many other associates, PA's and nurses who shepherded Larry through his cancer journey from 2016 to 2021. The MD Anderson chaplain, Cletus Aakol, was of great comfort and strength to our family. All of these people are truly angels on earth.

Services will be held on December 29, 2021 at the Klein Funeral Home, 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, TX. Family greeting will be from 9:00-10:00 with the Celebration of Life from 10:00-11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MD Anderson in Larry's memory or a charity of your choice.

God saw that he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered, "Come with me."

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating; a determined spirit was laid to rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
