Larry Anson Jones, age 77 of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024, after a long battle with health issues. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Madlyn Mead Jones. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Jaclyn "Jackie" Burleson and husband, Justin Burleson and grandchildren Jacob (age 9) and Noelle (age 7), who loved their Granddaddy.

Larry was born on July 4, 1947 to Frank Bryan Jones and Mary Louise McClesky Jones in Gatesville, Texas. He was proud to be a 5th generation Texan. Larry spent the first 5 years of his life in Gatesville and never forgot his Coryell County roots. His family moved to the Houston area, where he spent the majority of his life. There was a brief 3-year period when his family moved to Teneha, Texas when he was in junior high school. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1965. During high school, Larry played baseball and went to the state playoffs. His greatest claim to fame was being hit by a baseball thrown by Nolan Ryan. He did not get a hit off Nolan, but his pitch brushed Larry's jersey.

He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1969, with a Bachelor of Science degree. During this time, Larry became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and was a Life Loyal Sig.  After graduation, he first taught school, then worked for Great Southern Life Insurance Company for several years. For 34 years, he owned a real estate appraisal company, Larry A. Jones & Associates, Inc., before retiring due to health reasons. He received the MAI and SRA designations as a member of the Appraisal Institute.

Larry had a long 32-year battle with heart disease and a 28-year battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His strength and determination through the years was unsurpassed, as he kept fighting.

Larry enjoyed Texas history, history of the West, and the written Word. He was a lifelong Astros fan and enjoyed sports. Larry was known for his story telling and ability to make people laugh, without even trying. Larry and Madlyn were members of Northwoods Presbyterian Church. He cherished his time with his family and always said that was his legacy. Services for Larry will be at Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10 am.
