Lainey Anne Landry

Lainey Anne Landry departed this world to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 4, 2025. The memory of Lainey continues to encourage and light the hearts of all who knew her. Lainey was a dynamic nine-year-old, born March 30, 2016. She was the proud daughter of her loving parents Natalie and Ben Landry, the best sister to brothers Daniel and Luke, and the most gentle caretaker to her cats Lila and Yawyaw, as well as Doc the dog. Cherished by her paternal grandparents Brenda and Henry Landry, and maternal grandparents Susan and Timothy Weaver. Lainey's kindness, curiosity, and beautiful smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

From the moment she arrived, Lainey filled her family and friends' life with love, laughter, and spunk. She was a light-on-her-feet, courageous and imaginative child who loved playing with slime, eating popsicles and popcorn, playing Old Maid and Gin with her grandparents, Susu and Bebo, and baking chocolate chip muffins with her Grandma. She was the absolute best giver of hugs, an inclusive friend and a strong presence. Wise beyond her years, Lainey had a gift for making adults laugh like they were children and making everyone feel special. Lainey's confidence and kindness touched everyone she met and her laugh was truly contagious.

Lainey Anne, also known as Lainey Boo, Lainey Banana, Laine-R, T'bot, T'noon, Butch times Ten, Lil' Babe, Girl Chek and even Bruh, was a student at St. Michael's Catholic School. She started her day with the "dry that hair special" and her days were filled with laughter, learning and sports teams. She dreamed of being a surfer, scientist, singer and a mom. She loved her friends like she loved her family. She was a fierce Firefly soccer player, a St. Michael's Tiger basketball star, a Brownie Girl Scout and a Post Oak Little League sister for life.

She could not wait to go to Camp Mystic with her cousins and friends. Everloyal Kiowa, Lainey joined the ranks of the nearly one-hundred-year-old camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River where hearts are loyal and true. She was a natural leader during the spirited scavenger hunt, where her smile radiated as brightly as her amazing costume. She lived her best life at camp, filled with singing songs, extra special friendships, and dance parties with her Bubble Inn cabinmates.

Her commitment to her faith was unwavering. Lainey received her First Holy Communion on May 10, 2025, and followed in obedience through prayers and service. Along with her family, Lainey was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Lainey was the loudest singer in church and always knew that no matter what, when she asked her Dad how much longer church would last, it would always end in "24 parsecs." Lainey loved our Lord, and prayed every single day.

Tragically, Lainey's journey on earth concluded much sooner than anyone could have anticipated. Yet, in her brief time, she planted seeds of love, courage, and faith that will flourish in the lives of those she touched. As we gather to celebrate her life, let us hold onto the words of Matthew 19:14: "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Lainey is surrounded by her Bubble Inn friends in Heaven, where they will always be first in line for Dr. Pepper and bomb-pop popsicles. She now dances in the eternal joy and light of God's love, where no shadow can touch her.

To her brothers Daniel and Luke, her cousins Wynne, Cullen, Sophia, Wesley, Graham, and Hallie, and all her beloved family, remember Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." Lainey's spirit, a firecracker of God's creation, remains with us, guiding and comforting us through the boundless love she shared.

For we know with assurance that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We must let her brief time on this earth remind us to cherish each moment, to love fiercely, and to believe faithfully. In the laughter of her siblings, the blossoming of the backyard garden she loved, and the whispers of her songs in the breeze, Lainey Anne Landry lives on; a forever light in the hearts she touched, an everlasting legacy of a life beautifully lived.

Lainey was preceded in death by her grandfather, Henry James Landry, Jr., of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In addition to her parents, Lainey is survived by her brothers, Daniel Timothy and Luke Joseph Landry, of Houston, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Brenda Landry, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her maternal grandparents, Susan and Timothy Weaver, of Houston, Texas; her aunts, uncles, and cousins Stephanie and Will Landry and their children, Graham William and Hallie Lynn Landry, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Katherine and David Andrew, and their children, Cullen Lee, Sophia Elaine, and Wesley Gray Andrew, of Houston, Texas; Jamie and Laura Weaver, and their daughter Wynne Ruth Weaver, of Houston, Texas.

Lainey is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family members, and devoted friends. With heartfelt gratitude, the Landry family extends their deepest appreciation to all those who have supported them during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held from three o'clock to five o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, July 11, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd, Houston, TX 77056. A funeral will be held for family and friends at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, July 12, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
