Ky Thi Tran

With a heart full of love and gratitude, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother entered eternal life into the arms of our Heavenly Father, peacefully reuniting with her loving husband Phu on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family in Houston, Texas.

Born to Luong Dinh Tran and Lieu Thi Nguyen on March 30, 1937, in Ha Tinh Vietnam, Ky was the youngest of eight children and a true survivor. She lost her mother at the tender age of seven. When she was only 17, she escaped to South Vietnam by herself after the Geneva Accords, eventually learning that her father lost his life in a communist prison. She got married to Phu X Nguyen in 1957 and together they had eight children. They migrated to the U.S. in 1992. When their life was still in the midst of rebuilding in the new country, she lost her husband. Her life was a constant struggle, but with grits and tenacity, she survived it all and created a wonderful life for herself and her family. As a devout Catholic, she faithfully lived her life in humility, charity, kindness, selflessness, and unconditional love for family, friends, and others in everyday life.

She is lovingly missed by her children and their families: son Quy Nguyen, son Phuong Nguyen, son Thieu Nguyen, daughter Thuy Nguyen, daughter Mai-Hoa Nguyen, and daughter Thuvan Nguyen. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren & two great-grandchildren. Ky will also be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phu X Nguyen; both parents; her sister (Lieu); brothers (Minh, Tri, Tien, Sy, and two others); son-in-law Tri Hoang; son Bich X Nguyen; and daughter Nga Nguyen.
