Obituary

Kurt Markam Looff was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on August 7, 1960, and passed away in Spring, Texas on May 4, 2024.

He looked toward the past for inspiration to his own life: referencing all the "greats": great battles, great generals, great decisions, as an answer to the mysteries of his life. This often worked in contrast to the small things he cared about: his miniatures, his books, and his games (physical and digital).

But to simply contrast his love of history with the items he had amassed through his life is a disservice to the man he was. Kurt Markham Looff was a man who saw art in the ordinary, who found beauty in the most barren of deserts, and taught his children to find solace in the fantastical tales he grew up on.

He was an inspiration to all, an artist in his field, and a wonderful husband, father, and son. To say he will be missed is an understatement: he permeated the fabric of our lives, and without him we are at risk of unraveling completely.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Looff.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Jennifer Looff; his children, Kathryn Looff, Kameron Looff, and Nathaniel Krueger; father, Karl Looff; and siblings, Kris Sparks and Kevin Looff. He is the beneficiary of unconditional love by all the animals that he loaned his lap, his cleaning skills, and his heart to: Smokey, Trina, Wicked, Loki, Rory, and Skippy.

A memorial service for Kurt will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Klein funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375.  The service will be available to watch via livestream HERE .

In lieu of flowers, take time to read a book, play with your children and pets, or learn something new. It is also acceptable to go on a walk and notice the beauty of the world around you--even in the rocks beneath your feet.
