Obituary

Kristie Lea Smith, 68, of Tomball Texas, passed peacefully from this life on March 6, 2026 surrounded by her family and close friends.

Kris was born on May 5, 1957 in Mason City, Iowa to John and Esther Hubacher. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1975. She graduated from NIACC in 1977 and began her lifelong banking career shortly after. She moved to Houston Texas in 1982 and married Calvin Smith on August 18, 1984 in Las Vegas Nevada, and together they raised their beloved children, Josh and Tarah.

Her greatest joy was her family, especially her two grandchildren Carson and Hadley. She never missed an opportunity to gather, often in her home where she hosted countless Christmas and Thanksgiving meals. Summer weeks in Clear Lake, Iowa were to spent with extended family and catching up with old friends. In addition to reading a good novel, Kris enjoyed watching her daily soap opera and taking care of her outdoor plants and lawn. A recent interest was Tay Tay and Trav!

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Joshua and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Smith, grandchildren Carson and Hadley Smith , daughter Tarah Smith, mother Esther Hubacher, siblings Mark (Julia) Hubacher, Jan (Don) Sheridan, Lance (Nichole) Hubacher, siblings-in-law Bruce (Myrna) Smith, Cheryl Asche, Walter (Molly) Smith, Sam (Carmen) Smith, Pat (Jackie) Smith, Denell (Phil) Collins, James (Jody) Gobeli, Dale Gobeli, Teresa (Chip) Van Horn, Jeffrey Gobeli and Laura Gobeli (boyfriend - Matt Holmes), and many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
