Kristi Ellen Gray, age 54, of Houston, Texas went to be home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 22, 2023. She was born in Austin, Texas on August 1, 1968, to her loving parents, Chuck and Suellen Kirby. Kristi had the kindest of hearts and is described as a being a "light" to anyone fortunate enough to meet her. She befriended everyone she met and never hesitated to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand. Kristi possessed a hearty, contagious laugh and made it her life's mission helping others.
Kristi met Taylor, her future husband and love of her life, during their junior year at Cypress Creek High School. They married on December 14, 1991, soon after graduating college. She was a loving and devoted wife for 31 years. The first twenty of these years were spent as a military wife. She began raising her three wonderful children—Kirby, Taylor, and Katie—on Army bases, often by herself as military duties kept Taylor away. Raising her children was her greatest passion and joy and she excelled at it. After they got out of the Army, she and Taylor settled back in their hometown of Houston. She became an avid fan of wrestling, baseball, football, and dance—pretty much whatever activity her children were engaged in at the time. Her obvious pride in her children was well deserved. She will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends.
Kristi is survived by her parents Chuck and Suellen Kirby; sister Susan Kirby; brother Chuck and nieces Emma and Abbey; father-in-law and mother-in law Lynn and Susan Gray; sister-in-law Gina Gray; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maridee and Jim Bruner and niece Sara Kate Bruner and nephew Gray Bruner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on March 2, 2023, at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston. Visitation will be held that morning beginning at 10:00 and also immediately following the service. Taylor says attire is as formal or as comfortable as you care to be and that he isn't wearing a tie.
In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating in Kristi's name to a mental health charity or organization of choice.
