Kirk Layne Williams was born March 10th, 1962 in Big Spring, TX.  He grew up in Colorado City, TX where he graduated high school before later attending the University of Texas at Austin and then Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.

After college, Kirk moved to Houston where he eventually went to work for Panalpina, a freight forwarding and logistics company.  It was at this time that Kirk realized this line of work was his passion.  Kirk later joined Expeditors International in the mid 1990s.  Soon after joining Expeditors, Kirk determined that in order to advance his career he needed to become a licensed U.S. customs broker, which he did in 1997.  He went on to became a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) in 2009.  His hard work, talent and determination excelled his career at Expeditors and he quickly became the Import Manager where he continued to advance his knowledge in International logistics.

In 2010 Kirk joined in a partnership with Amber Mena at CMX Global Solutions where he worked until his passing on April 28, 2021.

Those that knew Kirk, or perhaps just met him just once, know he had a passion for life.  He lived every moment to the fullest.  He loved people, he loved entertaining and was always the life of the party, meeting, or whatever type of gathering he was at.  He was extremely quick witted and never missed the opportunity to sit down at a piano if there was one in sight.  He often spotted a piano at some restaurant or bar and just started playing.  On one ski trip to Ruidoso, NM Kirk, his brother Dobie and some friends stopped at a roadside gas station/watering hole to use the rest room.  And you guessed it, Kirk spotted a piano.  There were only a handful of people in the place but they ended up staying for hours with Kirk playing the piano and entertaining everyone.  When the time came to leave the "regulars" begged Kirk to stay as they had never been so entertained in their life.  And Kirk did that wherever he went, whether there was a piano or not.  He would soon have everyone laughing, singing, dancing and enjoying life as much as he did.  He was definitely one of a kind.  I'm sure there are many of you in attendance today that could tell a story about Kirk just like that.

And then there was the bold and brassy Kirk.  He always had his opinions and he never backed away from them.  Many of you that are his Facebook friends….or used to be, know what I'm talking about.  He loved stirring the pot and starting conversations, sometimes political in nature, that unfortunately sometimes ended in someone getting mad, and in some cases, unfriending him.  But whether you agreed with him or not, Kirk always made people think, regardless of what the conversation was about.  And of course, we can't fail to mention Kirk's love for his animals and his love for people.  He was always helping people out by giving them a place to live, helping them financially or maybe just buying them something he felt they needed.  Kirk was extremely generous to say the least.

Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Mosely Dwain Williams in January, 1995.  He is survived by his mother, Betty Gibson and her husband John Gibson of Lubbock, TX, his sister Linda Locke and husband Larry Locke of Granbury, TX, his sister Dwainna Wulfjen and husband Urda Wulfjen of Lubbock, TX, and his brother Dobie Williams and wife Michele Williams of Granbury, TX.  Kirk is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a few great, great nieces and nephews.  And all of his family and friends loved him dearly.
